Ikorodu-Sagamu road crash leaves 4 persons dead

Regrettably, a distressing accident unfolded on the Ikorodu-Sagamu Expressway, resulting in the loss of four lives and causing injuries to four individuals.

The somber occurrence transpired at approximately midday within the vicinity of the MRI area.

Florence Okpe, the esteemed Chief Route Commander of the Ogun State Command of the FRSC, meticulously elucidated the specifics of the calamitous event.

According to her comprehensive report, a total of seven adults and one child were implicated in the collision, which was precipitated by a grievous instance of wrongful overtaking.

In the aftermath of the collision, the wounded parties were expeditiously conveyed to Dasochris Hospital situated in Gbaga, Ogijo, for urgent medical attention.

Conversely, the mortal remains of the deceased were reverently entrusted to the care of their bereaved families for the necessary rites.

In a gesture of sympathy and solidarity, the FRSC spokesperson extended heartfelt condolences to the grieving families of the victims, while concurrently issuing a fervent plea to all motorists to scrupulously adhere to prescribed speed limits and diligently observe road signage.

The esteemed Ogun Sector Commander, CC Anthony Uga, underscored the critical significance of exercising prudence during overtaking maneuvers and maintaining vigilant awareness of road demarcations as pivotal measures to avert the recurrence of such tragic incidents.

Okpe explained, “The crash involved a wine Toyota Sienna with registration number LND945EL and a white convoy bus with registration number AKD232XV. Eight people were involved: six male adults, one female adult, and one female child. Four were killed—two male adults, one female adult, and one female child—while four male adults sustained injuries.”

The wounded were taken to Dasochris Hospital in Gbaga, Ogijo, while the deceased were collected by their relatives.

The FRSC spokesperson extended sympathy to the families of those affected and stressed the need for drivers to follow speed limits and road signals.
