A tragic vehicular incident resulted in the untimely demise of three individuals in the Bareilly district of Uttar Pradesh.

This unfortunate event transpired on the evening of Saturday, as the victims were en route to a wedding celebration.

Their vehicle, which was being navigated using Google Maps, inadvertently veered off an under-construction flyover and subsequently plunged into the Ramganga River.

The deceased have been identified as Vivek, Amit, and the third person’s identity remains unconfirmed at this time.

The group was traveling from Gurugram to Bareilly, relying on the GPS navigation system provided by Google Maps.

Regrettably, the directions they followed led them onto a bridge that was not yet completed.

Unbeknownst to the occupants of the vehicle, the structure was incomplete, and as a result, the car proceeded onto the flyover, ultimately falling approximately 50 feet into the shallow waters of the river below.

The vehicle was discovered the following morning by local residents, who promptly notified the authorities.

Upon arrival at the scene, law enforcement officials confirmed that all three passengers had tragically lost their lives.

The recent incident has elicited significant outrage among the families of the victims, who have publicly criticized local authorities for their apparent failure to implement adequate safety measures.

One family member articulated their concerns by questioning;

Why was the bridge left incomplete without proper barricades to warn motorists? This is negligence.

In light of these events, the families are advocating for a thorough investigation and have formally requested the filing of a First Information Report (FIR) against the construction department responsible for the oversight.

The police department has confirmed that the vehicle involved in the incident, which is believed to be a hired taxi, sustained extensive damage.

Furthermore, the bodies of the deceased individuals have been dispatched for post-mortem examinations, and ongoing investigations are being conducted to ascertain the identity of the third victim.

In a formal response to this tragic event, a spokesperson for Google extended their condolences, stating,

Our deepest sympathies go out to the families. We’re working closely with the authorities and providing our support to investigate the issue.

This statement reflects the company’s commitment to assisting in the resolution of the matter at hand.

The incident has prompted a renewed discourse regarding the reliability of navigation applications, as well as the accountability of local infrastructure management.

While Google Maps is extensively utilized for its purported accuracy in navigation, experts in the field emphasize the necessity for users to exercise heightened caution, particularly when traversing unfamiliar territories.

This unfortunate accident serves to illuminate the inherent dangers associated with incomplete infrastructure and insufficient signage, especially in rural areas or regions undergoing construction.

It is noteworthy that local authorities have not yet released a formal statement elucidating the reasons behind the absence of appropriate safety measures at the site of the incident.

Such a lack of clarity raises pertinent questions regarding the adequacy of existing safety protocols and the responsibilities of those charged with maintaining public safety.
