Auto crash in Lagos left one passenger dead

Regrettably, an individual has succumbed to injuries, and another has been wounded as a consequence of a collision involving a commercial bus driver and two other buses in the Ketu region of Lagos State.
This unfortunate incident transpired on a Tuesday morning at approximately 6:45 am.
“A commercial Toyota Hiase Bus (NSW 216 XA) fully loaded with pepper and other perishable items early this morning rammed into two other Volkswagen commercial buses and killed a pedestrian (male) at Ketu by Demuri Junction inward Kosofe, Lagos,”- LASTMA
According to the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), a preliminary investigation revealed that the Hiase bus, which was transporting perishable goods and operating at a high speed, lost control due to brake malfunction.

The pedestrian who fell victim to this tragic event was reportedly awaiting a bus at Ketu Bus Stop near Demurin Junction along Ikorodu Road.
Additionally, a female passenger was found trapped inside one of the Volkswagen commercial buses involved in the collision.
Fortunately, she was successfully extricated by LASTMA personnel and promptly transferred to the care of the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASMBUS).
The commercial bus driver was promptly apprehended by LASTMA officials, with the invaluable support of police officers from Alapere Police Station, who ensured the security of the area during the rescue efforts.
These details were confirmed by Adebayo Taofiq, the Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department at LASTMA.
Following the recent incident, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, the General Manager of LASTMA, kindly urges pedestrians to adhere to the designated bus stops established by the government for boarding commercial buses.
It is imperative for the safety and efficiency of all road users that pedestrians comply with this directive.
Moreover, Mr. Bakare-Oki emphasizes the importance of drivers refraining from exceeding the speed limits and ensuring that their vehicles are in optimal condition before embarking on their journeys.
By maintaining a safe speed and conducting regular vehicle maintenance checks, drivers contribute significantly to the overall safety of the road network and the well-being of all commuters.
