Police Crackdown on Tinted Vehicle Glasses in Abuja

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has announced a decisive operation targeting vehicles with tinted glasses to address escalating security challenges.

Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, Commissioner of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu emphasized that tinted vehicle glasses are contributing to increasing lawlessness and hindering effective policing.

CP Disu asserted that no individual has the right to tint their vehicle’s windows without proper authorization.

The crackdown is aimed at ensuring transparency and visibility, with law enforcement prioritizing public safety.

He highlighted cases where tinted glasses prevented the public from noticing kidnapped victims in distress, exacerbating criminal activities.

The commissioner pointed out a concerning trend of vehicles without number plates or with deliberately obscured plates, further complicating crime detection.

Residents of the FCT were warned that the police would strictly enforce existing regulations on tinted glasses and vehicle identification, urging compliance to foster a safer community.

“This is to warn all residents of the FCT that henceforth, police will enforce all laws on tinted glasses. Nobody has the right to tint his or her vehicle.” he warned.
