Tragic motor accident took place on the Onitsha/Owerri road

It has been reported that a tragic motor accident took place on the Onitsha/Owerri road, Orogwe market bus stop in Owerri, Imo State on Friday.
The incident involved a Luxurious bus, nearly at full capacity, and an empty sand tipper.
Regrettably, at least ten individuals lost their lives in this unfortunate event.
An individual who was present at the scene shared the harrowing details with our correspondent.
The Luxurious bus, which belonged to the Lords Chosen Ministry, was transporting church members from Lagos State to a scheduled program in Owerri set to commence on Saturday when the accident occurred.
The eyewitness described the sequence of events leading to the tragedy.
The Luxurious bus, traveling at a high speed, attempted to maneuver around the tipper emerging from a bend at approximately 6 am from a connecting road along the highway.
Tragically, the bus collided with passengers waiting at the bus stop, intending to commute to work.
The collision resulted in a devastating loss of life, highlighting the importance of road safety and vigilance while driving.
Such incidents underscore the need for stringent adherence to traffic regulations and precautions to prevent further tragedies on our roads.
According to the source, the motor collided with a tipper truck while trying to avoid it, causing the tipper to crash into a culvert.
Tragically, the driver and conductor of the tipper died instantly, and over ten passengers waiting at a bus stop were also reportedly injured by the bus.
“It was around 6 am this morning, we saw the bus driver carrying Chosen members may be from Lagos, the tipper was coming out from that corner,we don’t know what happened, but we later heard a loud sound ,we saw that the bus had crashed into the shops at the right side of Orogwe market .
“But before it finally crashed into the shops, the bus had hit the rear of the tipper which forced it to hit the culvert. About 8 people were later removed from under the bus while the driver was still alive.
One of the survivors of the incident whike in tears said ” We’re many in that vehicle, i don’t know if it’s full or not but our loads were also inside, we were going to our church program in Owerri when we saw this accident.
The middle aged woman who survived with her daughter continued ” Our load is still trapped in the bus but that’s not what we’re saying now,a lot of people have been taken to the hospital, most of them were removed from under the bus.”
Another source who owned a shop at the same line the bus rammed into said;
” I thank God for my life , i think my being alive is spiritual. I was battling with some flies in my house at about 5 am in the morning, i normally resume there at about few minutes to seven but i was delayed because of the battle with the strange flies, behold when i came few minutes after , i saw the accident.”
However, the bus driver survived. The incident happened just before shops in the area usually open for business, sparing more potential victims.
There were claims that a similar accident occurred at the same location four years ago.
Pastor Lazarus Muoka, the General Overseer of the church, was scheduled to appear at the Owerri crusade on Saturday.
