A 33yrs old man lost his life to a hit and run driver in Lagos

The death of a motorist, identified as Seun Sahola, aged 33, has been officially confirmed by the Police in Lagos State.

The unfortunate incident occurred during a protest against another motorist who reportedly struck and caused damage to Sahola’s vehicle on the Jakande-Lekki-Epe Expressway, Lagos.

SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, verified the occurrence to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday.

According to Hundeyin, the Ilasan Police Division received a report on Monday around 2:30 p.m. regarding a hit-and-run fatal motor accident on the Jakande-Lekki-Epe Expressway involving a Lexus car.

The information provided indicated that the deceased motorist was operating the vehicle when a Honda Accord car, bearing a withheld registration number and driven by an unidentified individual, collided with and damaged his car.

The individual responsible for the creation of the visual representation stated that the aforementioned report provided additional information indicating that the driver of a Honda Accord vehicle purportedly collided with a parked Lexus car situated along the expressway.

Hundeyin conveyed that the owner of the Lexus automobile, who has since deceased, emerged from his vehicle and insisted that the driver of the Honda Accord car descend from his vehicle to assess the extent of the damage inflicted upon the Lexus.

“The report says that instead of the Honda Accord car driver to come down to check, he refused, rather, he allegedly used his Honda Accord car to knocked down the Lexus car motorist and drove off.

“The driver of the Honda Accord car, in an attempt to flee the scene of accident, lost control of his car and ran into an electric pole at Igbo Efon and abandoned his accident car at the middle of the road and ran away.

“The traffic personnel of the police division immediately went to the scene. One Seun Sahola was rushed to the hospital for medical treatment, where he was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty, ” he said.

Furthermore, Hundeyin elaborated that the deceased individual’s remains were transferred to the mortuary for a postmortem examination, while the unattended vehicle involved in the accident was transported to the police station for safekeeping.

It was mentioned that an ongoing investigation is underway, with law enforcement actively pursuing the driver who absconded from the scene of the incident.
