18 Dead, Including Children, in Fatal Jigawa Road Crash

At least 18 people, including children, have been confirmed dead following a fatal road traffic accident along the Dutse–Kwanar Babaldu highway in Jigawa State.

The crash occurred on the busy intercity route linking Dutse to surrounding communities, according to emergency responders who arrived at the scene.

Several of the victims were reportedly killed instantly, while others sustained injuries of varying degrees.

Officials said the injured were rescued and taken to nearby medical facilities for treatment, while the remains of the deceased were evacuated to designated mortuaries.

Rescue operations were carried out by road safety and emergency personnel, who also worked to clear the wreckage and restore traffic flow, which was temporarily disrupted by the incident.

As of the time of filing this report, authorities had not disclosed the exact cause of the crash or the number of vehicles involved.

Investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident.
