Accident in Ondo claims the lives of 16 passengers

A tragic motor accident transpired in the Ore-Ondo vicinity of Ondo State, resulting in the untimely demise of no fewer than 16 individuals, whose identities were rendered unrecognizable due to the severity of the burns sustained.

The incident unfolded on the Ore-Ondo thoroughfare within the confines of Ajue community, involving a Toyota Hiace Bus and a Truck in a collision of catastrophic proportions.

As per accounts provided by eyewitnesses present at the scene, the collision culminated in the loss of 16 lives, with an additional three individuals sustaining grave injuries, while two fortunate individuals emerged unscathed from the wreckage.

The primary cause of this lamentable occurrence has been attributed to reckless driving practices, notably encompassing excessive speed and hazardous overtaking maneuvers, ultimately resulting in a fatal head-on collision.

Ibitoye Samuel, the esteemed Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ondo, has officially verified that the aforementioned accident transpired on a fateful Monday evening at precisely 8 p.m., with the arduous rescue operation persisting until 11 p.m.

It is imperative for all motorists to exercise utmost caution and adhere strictly to traffic regulations to avert such calamitous incidents in the future.
