Shehu Mohammed Reaffirms Stakeholder Collaboration as Key to Safer Nigerian Roads

The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed, has continued to emphasise the importance of stronger collaboration among government institutions, security agencies, transport operators, and the motoring public in achieving safer roads across Nigeria.
The road safety chief said sustainable improvements in traffic management and crash reduction require a collective commitment from all stakeholders rather than the efforts of a single institution.
His position aligns with the FRSC’s ongoing reforms, which focus on digital innovation, enhanced enforcement, public enlightenment, and stronger partnerships with professional bodies and other government agencies.
In recent weeks, the Corps has strengthened engagement with strategic partners, including the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), which commended the FRSC’s digital transformation and pledged closer collaboration in promoting road safety awareness nationwide.
Shehu Mohammed has also maintained that technology-driven enforcement, transparent service delivery, and improved operational efficiency remain central to the Corps’ vision of reducing road traffic crashes and improving emergency response across the country.
The FRSC continues to encourage motorists to:
- Obey speed limits
- Avoid dangerous driving behaviours
- Ensure their vehicles are roadworthy
- Cooperate with traffic officials during patrol operations.
RoadKing Safety Perspective
Road safety is a shared responsibility. While the FRSC continues to strengthen enforcement and public education, motorists must also play their part by observing traffic regulations, avoiding distractions behind the wheel, and maintaining their vehicles regularly.
Strong collaboration between government agencies and road users remains essential to reducing crashes and saving lives on Nigerian roads.
