Police later confirmed that this crash forms part of two separate fatal incidents along the Enugu-Port Harcourt expressway within the same day. The second involved a tricycle in a collision with another truck, resulting in four additional fatalities.

Emergency Response & Safety Analysis

Lack of Official Statement: As of press time, neither Dangote Group nor the police have released detailed statements regarding the circumstances or driver’s condition.

Repeat Tragedies: The Four Corner area is becoming increasingly dangerous for road users. Poor enforcement, speeding heavy trucks, and inadequate safety infrastructure contribute to recurring disasters.

RoadKing’s Take

This tragic event underscores urgent issues:

1. Corporate Accountability: Dangote Group must ensure its drivers are licensed, properly trained, and that vehicles are maintained to high safety standards.

2. Infrastructure & Enforcement: The Enugu–Port Harcourt route needs better lighting, speed regulation, and crash barriers.

3. Emergency Preparedness: Rapid response measures must be strengthened, especially in high-risk zones like Four Corner.
