Owo-Ikare Road: 13 Lives Lost in Ondo State Accident

At least 13 people tragically lost their lives on Saturday, December 28, 2024, in a road accident along the Ikare-Akoko/Owo highway in Ondo State.

The incident occurred at Abule Panu, near Ose Bridge, prompting an urgent response from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

In a statement released in Akure, the Ondo State capital, the FRSC Sector Commander, Samuel Ibitoye, confirmed the incident, stating that the injured victim was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre in Owo for treatment, while the deceased were deposited at the hospital morgue.

Ibitoye expressed deep regret over the tragedy and called on drivers to practice patience and ensure proper maintenance of their vehicles. He also emphasized the role of passengers in road safety, urging them to speak out against reckless driving.

The FRSC reiterated its commitment to reducing road traffic accidents and reminded the public that road safety is a shared responsibility.
