The Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has assured that the Port Harcourt ring road will be completed on time.

He made this commitment during his visit to the project site yesterday to review the progress of the work.

The governor embarked on a thorough inspection tour that commenced at the Obiri-Ikwerre-Airport Road end, proceeding through the Jesuit Memorial School to the Elikpokwuodu community, and further to the Rumuosi and Ozuoba communities, concluding the tour at UTC Junction.

A statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, highlighted that the inspection route covered three council areas within the state: Ikwerre, Obio/Akpor, and Port Harcourt City.

Following the completion of the inspection, Fubara engaged with members of the press and elaborated that the contract for the Port Harcourt Ring Road marked the initial agreement he endorsed.

He emphasized the substantial financial resources allocated to the project to ensure its successful completion for the benefit of the residents of Rivers.

“I think that we are good, considering the understanding that we had with Julius Berger Nigeria PLC.

“We signed off that in 36 months, this project will be done and delivered, and with what we are seeing, we are meeting up that target.

“I think we have a few issues; the price rate of things at that time we signed the contract and what subsists presently is no longer the same”. Siminalayi said

During his speech, the Managing Director of Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, Dr Lars Richter, led the governor on a tour of the project site and noted that progress had been made on the first flyover with piling and beam laying work that began on January 15.
