A horrifying incident occurred in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Monday night, where a vehicle allegedly driven by suspected internet fraudsters, commonly known as Yahoo boys, claimed the lives of six innocent pedestrians.

The accident took place near the Unity Filling Station in the Eliozu area.

Eyewitnesses reported that the suspects were speeding excessively when they lost control of their car. The vehicle veered off the road, struck an electric pole, and then plowed into a walkway, mowing down several bystanders in its path.

The sudden chaos threw the area into confusion and fear, particularly as the occupants of the vehicle immediately fled the scene after the fatal crash.

Authorities from the Rumuokoro Police Station arrived at the scene later and evacuated the victims’ bodies using an ambulance around 4 a.m. on Tuesday morning. The police have since launched a manhunt to locate and apprehend the suspects who abandoned the car and escaped.

Meanwhile, the incident has triggered widespread outrage on social media platforms. Many users are demanding swift justice for the deceased and are calling on law enforcement agencies to ensure the perpetrators are brought to book.

The tragic loss of lives has reignited public concern over reckless driving, youth crime, and the perceived impunity of suspected fraudsters in the region.
