Officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) confirmed that the incident resulted in one fatality and three persons sustaining severe injuries.

Preliminary findings revealed that the truck, travelling from Ijebu-Ode, attempted a U-turn inward Eleko when the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle.

The truck then crashed into a stationary tricycle carrying passengers.

Emergency responders comprising LASTMA officials, personnel of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), police officers, and fire service operatives quickly arrived at the scene to rescue victims trapped in the wreckage.

The injured victims were transported to the General Hospital in Epe for urgent medical attention, while traffic officials worked to restore normal movement along the busy junction.

Authorities attributed the crash primarily to loss of vehicle control during manoeuvre, a recurring factor in urban road accidents involving heavy trucks.
