Several Toyota Camrys acquired by the Sokoto State government for exclusive female taxi services have been found abandoned.

Out of the 20 Camrys procured to alleviate the impact of fuel subsidy removal, 13 were observed parked in a footage.

These vehicles were among the 140 purchased for security agencies and public transportation initiatives in Sokoto State.

The government has allocated N3.4 billion for the transportation project, which includes the purchase of 50 Toyota 18-seater buses and 20 Toyota Camrys.

Unfortunately, some of the 20 Toyota Camry XSE sedans acquired by the Sokoto State Government for the female-only taxi initiative in September have been left unused.

An X user has this to say;

“The 2023 Camry cars bought by the Sokoto State government for taxi purposes have been abandoned already.

“t’s safe to say that the governor was clueless and perhaps it was just a means to enrich someone,”

The Sokoto State Government, led by Governor Ahmad Aliyu, acquired 20 Toyota Camry XSE sedans in September for taxi services.

These vehicles were among the 140 inaugurated by Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima for security agencies and public transportation in Sokoto State.

Additionally, the government allocated N3.4 billion for the purchase of 50 Toyota 18-seater buses for inter-state services and 20 Toyota Camrys specifically designated for female transportation within the state, as stated by Commissioner Jabir Mai-Hula of the Religious Affairs department.
